TLOU2...
1) a game that divided the fanbase by a lot
2) User metacritic score of 5.7
3) tons of unsold copies in many stores Worldwide
Still win the GOTY...yeah, definitely not rigged. Anyway, TLOU2 is seen as the second coming of Christ by almost every games journalist out there, but hated by actual players
I wouldn't say it is hated by players, I like it, I even like it much better than the first game.
Metacritic user score really shows us it's weakness: firstly I am not sure how many people actually played the game and yet they rated the game badly. I like Steam in that regard, that you must own the game before you can rate it. Secondly, you can see that players rate with emotions rather with sense. Professional reviewer has to back up his verdict with some valid reason. A lot of bad reviews on Metacritic boils down to two reasons: Hurr, durr they killed my favourite character - worst game ever 0/10. Hurr, durr I have to play for girl which looks like a dude - worst game ever 0/10.
I really do not think it's fair to give this game 0/10 just for the fact that someone didn't like the story. It seems like everyone who downvoted the game forget it's technological marvel - graphics is one of the best for PS4 game; gameplay, animations and sound design is amazing; there are like 2 seconds loading times (!!!) and overall the game was in top notch technical state (which is still not guaranteed in 2020).
Naughty Dog could play it on safe side and make the story same, but different, but still the same. Yes, someone, somewhere would complain that is essentialy still the same, but generally everyone would be happy.
I respect Naughty Dog that they didn't do it. They had courage to burn half the stuff thay built in first game in the first hour of game. They had courage to tell the story from the perspective of antagonist. They had courage to do things differently this time. I get it, a lot of people didn't like this, but it's unfair to downvote (0/10) the game for this single reason.
And saying that voting is rigged just because it isn't in alignment with my opinion is like Trump saying that presidential elections were fraud because he didn't win.
