After the new Vermeer processors, alias Ryzen 5000, were officially introduced on 10/8/2020, the expectations were high. In a first test of the Ryzen 9 5900X and Ryzen 7 5800X, these expectations were exceeded. In a second step, we will now look in more detail at the new flagship, the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, and the entry-level model, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X.

5600x - probably the best overall CPUs of 2020. Astonishing gaming power, worthy for any work where 12 threads are sufficient, and even rocking in Intel-loving Adobe products which historically lack any scaling for multiple threads. Moreover, it's really really energy-efficient, which eases the life of mobo mosfets / cooling / psu etc.

BTW - is there any solid method of finding which memory modules are dual rank? Currently I use 2x8Gb Samsung B-Die 3200 14-14-14-31 from G.Skill - those are definitely single-rank. But I plan to upgrade from 2600 to 5600x or 5800x, so maybe it's worth upgrading the RAM as well.
