Intel confirms Rocket Lake-S with PCIe Gen4 support coming to desktops in Q1 2021

Intel has officially confirmed that Rocket Lake-S will be Comet Lake-S successor for desktops and gaming PCs. The 11th gen Rocket Lake-S will offer Xe-LP graphics, support for PCIe Gen4, and is slated for a Q1 2021 availability. Intel didn't go any further into configuration specifics, but we do get to hear that Rocket Lake-S will be based on the Cypress Cove architecture, which is a backport of Willow Cove on 14 nm.

Well on the desktop, people can simply plug in a Thunderbolt card into a PCIe slot even if they have an AMD CPU plus AMD's desktop CPUs are far ahead (and server CPUs even farther), power consumption is less of a concern vs laptops, so Intel has a bigger battle to fight.

No reason to not choose AMD until and unless Intel pulls ahead.

Hmm. I don't think all AMD boards support a PCIe TB card. IIRC only ASRock offers it. Not sure if anything has changed of late. Nevertheless, AMD can still offer USB4 support, which can theoretically hit TB4 speeds though I am not sure if the latency would be as low as what TB4 can offer.

Yes just 1 Ryzen and 1 Threadripper board. But it's possible for enthusiasts. On laptops, Intel is the choice for me after arrival of Tiger Lake even though AMD is ahead in multi-core performance.

INTEL se retrasa otros casi 5 meses con Rocket Lake-S uffff la cosa pinta mal en intel ALGO esta pasando y nadie sabe que ocurre......
Lo que no entiendo es: estos Rocket Lake-S salen a fianles de la Q1 del 2021 y «Alder Lake» pocos meses después practicamente para finales 2021 Por tanto quien renueve en el Q1  del 2021 estará tirando el dinero, pq a pocos meses unos 10 meses sale «Alder Lake» y sí será una plataforma completamente nueva y NO este Rocket Lake-S el cual no será compatible con la siguiente generación la 12ª con nuevo chipset (no compatible con los anteriores pero que cabrones los de INTEL) soporte para memorias DDR5 y la nueva interfaz PCIe 5.0 Aunque creo saldrá para 2022 aun quedan 2 años LARGOS TODO A 10nm++++ y Mientras, AMD dando el paso a los 5nm+. Otra vez intel intentando vendernos REFRITOS durante TODO el 2021 sin q sean compatibles a futuras versiones a precio de Oro, pero ya no engañan a nadie.
Ahora la pregunta para cuando saldrán los AMD serie 6000? con DDR5 y PCI 5.0 + RDNA3  ufffff
