Some OnePlus 8 Pro units suffer from well-documented green tint and black crush display issues. OnePlus is now acknowledging the latter to be a hardware defect, and is offering to repair, refund, or replace affected units.

Taking a random Customer service reps troubleshooting steps hardly is an admission of fault from the company. I do that exact kind of job and the reps never have any contact with the CEOs.

I'd wait to hear an announcement directly  from OnePlus first.

It's not an isolated case. Others are getting the same response.

I got my op3 camera replaced for free nearly 3 years after purchase because it was widespread hardware issue. So yeah, if they are saying they will replace, refund or repair, I am pretty sure they will do.

I think, this is also issue with oneplus 6 handsets. Kindly check and update.

Black crush has always been an issue with lower quality AMOLED panels. LGD and BOE panels had similar issues a while back.

On Android Central in the forums you'll find a post on a Galaxy S9 with black crush. I can't attach links or anything since I've never posted on here before. Just do a Google search. Has been a common issue on OLEDs on TVs and obviously now on cell phones as well.
