Nikon evokes a 58mm classic with its "fastest NIKKOR lens ever"

Nikon has launched the new and expansive NIKKOR Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct lens. This product name may sound familiar as it has been chosen to honor an iconic lens of the past. The new S-series lens has manual focus and an aperture of up to a whopping f/0.95.

Nikon seems to make a physical statement rather than a performance statement. Whether it performs up to the price, or the size is anyone's guess. An $8000 normal lens, from Nikon seems to ask for more than mere one aspheric, two shouldn't be surprising and three may shrink the lens size down to a Noctilux range.
