Can the fastest consumer desktop GPU available beat the fastest laptop with SLI graphics? Not quite, but it's at least 50 percent faster than any gaming laptop out there equipped with a single GeForce GTX 1080 GPU.

Lol what an absolutely terrible article. You tested one benchmark which is practically the only place you'll ever see perfect scaling and then come to the conclusion that rtx titan is slower than SLI 1080s? *Sigh* .. not only is the RTX titan in real life scenarios more powerful than SLI 1080s (even on desktop) but even a 2080Ti is faster than SLI 1080s. There are lots of reputable publications with the numbers to back this up. Also, even with a benchmark like firestrike or timespy, the titan can be overclocked to absolutely crush a higher graphics score than the SLI 1080s. I have a single 2080Ti, and have run SLI every generation since 780tis, then 980s then titanX Maxwell, then 1080s and finally titan XPs so I know a thing or two about SLI, and for new AAA titles that release you're looking at about 35% of them that release with any sort of SLI support. Some get it later, but it's still a minority.

Is there a shortage of things to write about?  I'm not sure how comparing a new gen desktop gpu to a last gen laptop SLI gpu is relevant in any way.  Is someone trying to decide between these two choices?...

Blatant missinformation. People seem to have more money than common sense. The titan RTX series is a workstation gpu for machine learning and ray traced model rendering. Both of which can literally take DAYS on older GPUs. None of which you benchmarked. This is like taking a car, tossing it in the ocean and as it sinks to the bottom you write. "Sharks are faster that cars everybody, it's confirmed."
Without testing that said car on
the roads it was made for. Now you're missinforming the masses on a product as a journalist. Good job.
