All Teslas now eligible for used EV tax credit discount as Model 3 and older Model S fit the bill best

With the average prices of used Tesla cars dropping, and cheaper Model 3 Highland on the horizon, buyers would be glad to hear that Tesla has finally sorted out the paperwork to qualify for the up to US$4,000 tax credit. The federal government still asks that they fulfil certain requirements like costing US$25,000 or less.

They have that whole $4000 used EV tax credit backwards. The credit should be on used EVs that EXCEED $25,000, not EVs under that price. Do you know how many miles a used Model 3 has to have on it to be $25,000 or less? 150-200K!

Putting aside how few listings this will currently actually apply to, I must wonder why such deals so often involve hard lines in the sand.

It seems that a linear ramp from $4K off down to $0 off within a certain price range, or the full break for lower incomes gradually down to none at higher ones, would create fewer awkward dilemmas for both sellers and buyers.

Seems like finding one that hasn't already had the credit claimed on it is gonna be that hard part. Ya know a long with finding a Tesla dealer.

Wouldn't that depend on the market? Like in CA you can get a new Model 3 for that much due to double the tax credits. That would impact the local resale value.
