Asus ZenScreen MB16AC (15,6, FHD, IPS) Monitor Review

Portable USB monitor. No recharging, one cable, light and slim. Asus' portable monitor is neither matte nor particularly bright. Although the poor color space will deter pros, the very high contrast will certainly appeal to everyone.

Got this after trying out the GeChic a few days.  The GeChic was pretty good and functioned well, but its dimensions are really quite large (it's thick and has huge bezels).  Also quickly realized that carrying two sets of wires (USB-C for power, VGA/HDMI) was really inconvenient when my laptop only has USB-C outs for video.  Finally, the price is $100 more than the Asus.

Happy with the Asus so far.  Definitely cannot be used outdoors, but keeping the monitor at 60-70% brightness while working indoors is quite good.  Helpful for doing document reviews or spreadsheets, esp. when I'm on travel for my work.  Very tough on the laptop batteries, so a second USB-C port for power would be good (and probably help the brightness).

Hope they come out with a 3200x1800 version at some point, even if it doesn't help the battery.

I'm surprised the sRGB is so low despite going hog-wild on the contrast ratio.

Also @VLRev: Remember ASUS has a poor habit of selling PenTile (RG/BW) not-true-high-res displays, which do not produce the full detail of their denoted resolutions and are commonly regarded to be deceptive marketing. It'd be cool to see a higher res option but only if it ends up being the real deal from ASUS this time.

I'm using a Thinkpad T460s which unfortunately only has USB 3.0 ports (and HDMI). My understanding is that USB C/USB 3.1 have more advantages over 3.0 when it comes to video capabilities.

Without USB C/USB 3.1 isn't my laptop's CPU doing all the processing when using the MB16AC through USB 3.0?
