Cardbus (type 2) adapter (to expresscard 54 slot) - help, please :)

Hi everyone
First, I do apologize for being unable to write this in German, but I´m no better than a chimp when it comes to speaking German. Sorry guys.
Well, I´ve got a problem. I´ve recently bought a sound card for my notebook, Creative X-Fi, expresscard 54, but I´ve later found out that my notebook has only a cardbus Type 2 slot. Well, the sound card fits into the slot, but I suppose these two slot types are electrically incompatible, so nothing happens. Well, I know I should have checked it out before I bought the card, but... So, my question is - does anybody know of any mechanical converters or adapters or whatever, that would let me plug my expresscard 54 into this cardbus slot? Or, any piece of hardware, not necessarily a slot to slot converter, but perhaps, just USB connector for expresscard 54 periphery? I´d really appreciate any ideas that don´t require that I break the bank ideas (short of upgrading the notebook, really, I´ve been thinking of buying a new one, but it´s hell of a bad timing right now)

i don't think that there are converters from cardbus to expresscard (only in the opposite way afaik)
