Scrawny gaming powerhouse. The Aorus X7 v7 has plenty to offer. Besides a blazingly fast NVMe SSD, it also features more than decent gaming performance, a QHD display, upgradeability, and CPU/GPU overclocking capabilities.

Which do you'll feel is a better laptop to buy currently?
The Aorus x7 dt v7 or the alienware 17 r4?
I'm planning to buy the 4k 7820HK with gtx 1080 in both.
Please suggest.
Any other good alternatives.
I'm mainly using it for movies, gaming and a bit of VR and productivity tasks like programming

@Mitul:

X7 DT all the way. Obvious differences aside, Dell, especially their gaming laptops are quite a pain when it comes to maintenance and user-serviceability. The only reason to choose AW is if you need a long, non-gaming battery life made possible by its unique non-G-Sync 1080p screen and big battery combo. Most importantly though with both the laptop and power brick Aorus is 1.7 kg / 3.8 lbs lighter than AW, and your body will absolutely thank you for it. Hope this helps.

Just a warning for anyone thinking about buying this or any Aorus/Gigabyte laptop....  You are responsible for shipping if you have a warranty claim.  In my case, my X7 dt 7 failed after 7 days.  I sent it to the warranty center at my own cost, now over a month later, I still have no laptop and no eta on when or if it will every be fixed.  I have had warranty claims before with Asus and Alienware...they both have it resolved and me on my way again within a day or two.  Aorus/Gigabyte products are just not reliable and you will be without a laptop for a very very long time when (not if) something goes wrong...

BATTERY LIFE SUCKS.

I GET AN HOUR - HALF AN HOUR DOING NOTHING.

i GOT THIS PC TODAY :(( REGRETTING IT A LITTLE

I just bought one of these with a 4k screen and I'm probably going to try and geta refund.

First of all the Wifi is completely useless, it drops continuously and when its not dropped its about a tenth of the speed of my old Dell XPS 17 (and even older MacBook Pro).

But the keyboard is catastrophically bad. Its basically impossible to use any productivity software on this machine, because you simply cannot use certain key combinations. Ctrl Shift and any of the arrow keys are all screwed up so no fast nudging in Photoshop, you cannot press the space bar and click and drag at the same time. You cannot use numerous keyboard combinations in Blender. etc etc

The touch pad feels crappy and is. it continuously fails to understand click and drags which makes it a massive pain to use. Apple had this buttionless track pad sussed about 8 years ago, why do PC manufacturers have such an issue?!?

And when its noisy, it really is pretty noisy. I could live with it though because when its no under pressure its damn near silent.

It could be, should be a great machine, graphics are great, case is great, screen is beautiful. but its really let down by not getting basics right that computers costing 1/3 the price get right with ease.

I think it would be EXTREMELY helpful is notebookcheck had a 'basics' section, does the wifi connect and hold a connection, is its speedtest result the same as other laptops in the testing area. Can you use the keyboard for productivity, i.e. can you use keyboard shortcuts in common applications like Word, Photoshop etc.

Any laptop failing this section should get an automatic 0 stars since its effectively useless and issues like these simply should not occur on any laptop in 2018

Im returning mine.

Aorus announced the new v8 of this model now, and these apparently have a full anti-ghosting keyboard.

Hopefully notebookcheck will confirm this in their review, along with whether the terrible wi-fi range performance has been improved at all...

sadly it looks like this model will only be available with a bloody FHD screen!!!!! Why do all manufacturers think people who buy 15" laptops want 4k screens but people who buy 17" ones don't. There seems no logic to that since you can see the benefit of 4k even less on a 15" than a 17" but there always seems to be a 4k option on the smaller machines...

Hopefully they will flesh out their line up with a 4k option soon...

So if the ghosting works, and the wifi range issues are fixed and they have a 4k version, I might buy this again!!
