Softened Ultrabook. This Ultrabook may not be as thin as the others, but it has better hardware and is a good candidate for mobile multimedia use. The Dell Inspiron 14z is an Ultrabook with an ULV CPU and a dedicated graphics card.

Thank's for the review.

i am looking to buy the 500gb + 32SSD hard drive option, and i would like to know if the windows 7 is pre installed on the SSD drive, and if so , can i upgrade the windows 8 on the SSD drive - maybe it wont install due to lack of free space?

Is there an choice of a better screen ?
Is there an option to install a mSATA cache SSD to work with the 500GB HDD ?
How many spare 'mini-card' slots, after instalation of the WiFi/BT and WWlan cards ?

Nutria

1) the keyboard is too small. some key are really strange... Pgn down is FN+ArrowDown. The enter key is really small.
2) A good resolution for this display could be 1600x900
3) Only 2 USB.

Fast and really light ;D

Unfortunetely 32 GB is not enough even for WIN 7, I would reccommend you to buy version with 128 GB SSD and no 500 HD, you can always buy an external HD drive, for exmple 1TB Seagate and  store your date on it,

I have got one of this model and I think that is an acceptable model ultrabook daily homework, connect to internet and if you want to try some pc games the Intel HD Graphics for nothing we disappoint the users. It also has a feature of having a DVD optical reader, which is generally not the case with the ultrabooks. I'm using the model with Intel Core i3, 4GB RAM and 500GB hard drive

Have you ever tried it with Windows 8?

I've bought this PC with Windows 8, but, unfortunately, I can't make the AMD 7570M function.

In Catalyst, I've set that the 7570M must be used when the notebook is connected to power and when selected programs are running, but the system doesn't use the card even when both events occur. The system recognizes the AMD card, but never uses it.

It seems there's some incompatibility with Windows 8, since I've heard about other laptops with two graphic cards that couldn't make the best video card work under windows 8 after an upgrade EVEN AFTER INSTALLING DRIVERS FOR WINDOWS 8.

My Inspiron 14Z 5423, after a year of use, connects to the internet but does not access any site. I'm for weeks with Dell support testing every possible procedures is not to solve. How can the machine be connected to wifi or cable and cannot access the internet? Dell has failed so far to solve this issue?

I just purchased this notebook from a (of all places) a yard sale. The hard drive was fried and it had no memory in it. Fortunately I had 2 4Gb DDR3 that worked well, I just threw in this 160Gb I had laying around then Installed Windows 8.! Pro. This notebook is screaming fast and works great. Best 40 bucks I ever spent. My only complaint is the lack of USB ports. I manage with a small USB hub however its kinda a pain in the *.^^ with only two USB. Other then that great notebook, will probably give it a !-2 TB hdd this week
