A Zotac Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Solid Overclocked graphics card has just been sold for an obscene amount on eBay, with the seller openly admitting that they had recently purchased the board from Micro Center. It's not just gamers in the US bracing for horrific reseller prices, as a similar picture has emerged in the key market of Japan.

Scalpers aren't "resellers".  Resellers are legitimate businesses that add actual value for nominal markup over wholesale.

Scalpers are pure parasites who add no value for exorbitant markups over full retail.

Of course the real fault is with the morons paying.  And contrary to the memes these aren't "the super rich".  People for whom $5k is the equivalent of $5 aren't playing videogames, nor do they pay morons markup for PC parts.  They generally don't pay for much of anything at all and find ways to get most depreciating assets free.   Their money is reserved for investments and genuine luxury.

These cards are getting bought by sad souls with the equivalent of an addiction who think they can "afford" $5k for a stupid video card because they have $30k in savings.  They need therapy.
