Acer appears to be planning a return to the smartphone market after a hiatus that has lasted over five years. The Taiwanese brand will mark its return with two entry-level smartphones which will be sold in India under the Acerpure brand name.

Imho we need companies like Asus & Sony to return to Android tablets. Idk why these companies return to markets just to jump in w/ these cheap pointless products. Its like jumping in the pool w/ nothing to show for it. Nobody will notice or remember you for doing so

I can see Sony trying their hand at it in their home market, but I doubt Asus will even try it. They got burned pretty bad with their Transformer tablet lineup in the past.

I know it's weird, but for the vast majority of people, their phone is not something they need to be constantly thrilled with or excited by (Apple fans aside). They need it to be affordable, functional, reliable and capable of running the core apps they use.

That IS boring but in exactly the right way.

How is an inexpensive, functional phone "pointless"? What more exactly did you want? Bangles? Sparkles? Intimate acts? It's a PHONE. The average cellphone price world-wide is just US$300. Even in the US it's only US$800 and they get massive subsidies from cell providers.

The purpose of making a product is to SELL it, not be famous for it.

I wish Sony and maybe Motorola just maintain their presence, at least in my part of the world. Can't always be depending on Samsung all the time.

So they could test these devices' customer based before going out in open waters. Imagine a company start off with a high end device and it comes with a flaw, what you think would happen to the company? Things need to start small before it could get big.

It's mesmerizing that there are companies managed to release a phone with Helio P35 (and its derivatives) in 2025...

Also, it's Acerpure not Acerone.
