It doesn't help when you've all these media channels constantly regurgitating and amplifying the very same message coming from these GPU duapolies. That these $999+ cards are for "gamers". And how gamers are after these types of cards.
Really, bruv? I actually don't know anyone in real life who has a **80 / **90 high end card. I'd actually like to see some stats and numbers. In the steam hardware survey, the top ten most used GPUs are all not **80 / **90 cards.
So we've overwhelming excessive coverage on hardware that doesn't even represent the majority of us. It just begs the question, why? For what purpose? For whom does this all serve?
I blame the media for this. The only people I know with **80/**90 cards are reviewers themselves, who are probably getting them for free in exchange for positive reviews - it would not surprise me.
Not saying these cards are not selling at all. But that I question how many are just ending up in server farms or companies, and not individuals.
It just makes no sense to me how the average person who is struggling to get on housing ladder or pay energy / utility bills would be shelling out "$6000" and camping outside for 4 days for a GPU launch.
