So, e.g., in Germany, starting tomorrow, we cannot buy any Nvidia RTX 4090s and, from January 30 on, any RTX 5090s (Or any RTX 5000s? Not to mention faster data center or professional cards.) because the 50,000 GPUs limit for Germany will be used immediately by the military, intermediate data centers, the industry etc.?!

Biden and Trump do not have any clue what they are actually regulating... Are they forcing Nvidia to move to Taiwan or Ireland?

I read and understood this - and saw the fine print of at most 50,000 per country. It may well be that the intention has been unclear to Biden himself. We will have to see.

It's still not clear to me. What's stopping a German selling these to a Swiss neighbour or vice versa a Swiss buying them off from Germany, EU or the UK?

I also feel like these restrictions are doing countries a favour. Do you know how much 50k RTX 5090s would be? This is tax payer money. I think people are suffering bigger issues right now with energy prices, cost of living, etc than to be worrying about AI.
