The merger of Fiat Chrysler and Peugeot SA in 2021 gave birth to Stellantis, and now Honda and Nissan may be the next car companies to combine forces. The two Japanese automakers are reportedly considering forming a new holding company, they both will operate under, to take on rival EV companies.

Mr Majestyk

They need to do something urgently neither of them have any really desirable cars outside the Nissan GTR which is now dead. Qashqai and Type R are ok but other than that it's a p*** poor line-up.

Sad that we are going to have less independent manufacturers. Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi basically will belong to Renault. They will create single platform that will be shared between brands and will just have different design and interior.. And cars do not become cheap..

They won't belong to Renault, they are in their way of divesting from Nissan, perhaps will keep as partners, but now they are expecting to pair with Chinese manufacturers like Geely as tech partners (the role Nissan once had).

But it's bad that will have less independent manufacturers. With the little resource Nissan is left and dwindling sales, I expect all but a few of it cars will become rebadged Hondas.

The question is how they can "face" electric cars, when even the Senior partner, Honda, is behind the curve? They are just releasing a new SUV that is based on the GM platform instead...
