Linux kernel 6.12 has been named as the next LTS, or long-term-support, kernel version. This landmark kernel release includes a wide range of new features, and will now be officially supported by the core Linux kernel maintenance team until at least December of 2026.

Just because you can't figure out how to properly compile, install and setup doesn't mean it can't be done, I can assure you there are many people who have been using latest rocm versions on bleeding edge kernels.

They finally fixed it with latest release.

The issue they had was AMD used an internal kernel api which they were not suppose to use. Because of that, when the api changed syntax, it broke it. And based on AMD's policy, they declined to fix it because they didn't support unsupported kernel versions. So it has been broken since 6.10 for months. Only with latest release they added support for 6.11 so it started working. But it was quite an easy thing to fix on their end that didn't need waiting so long.

And yes, someone could have made the fixes themselves and recompiled it themselves, but not everyone wants to go compiling 26gb of rocm.
