Setting their differences aside, Intel and AMD have joined forces with other industry heavyweights to advance the x86 architecture in a bid to steal the spotlight away from ARM-based IPs like the Apple M series and Qualcomm Snapdragon X lineup. Intel and AMD want to ensure x86 remains the computing platform of choice for decades to come and will work towards streamlining the architecture's performance, efficiency, and AI capabilities for the future.

Problem with group like this is that they don't play longer and are bound to fail.

The day whether Intel or AMD got something by which they can have edge on everyone, then immediately they will probably separate. They will forget the reason for this joint venture until again something similar to current times make them work together.

remember when intel and AMD made an 8th gen (intel) laptop CPU with AMD graphics? That did not last long, nor did support for it

Intel proved with Lunar Lake that x86 can be just as efficient as ARM in one generational leap (though they still have work to do to get the best performance per watt). Even if I never care to switch to Windows on ARM, this competition is good for the future of x86 chips and innovation. we all win in the end.

Thankfully, they don't have the edge in anything anymore. The only reason arm is not more dominant is due to Microsoft's gross incompetence (at everything).

I remember yea but also keep in mind this was way before Qualcomm bought Nuvia or the rise & adoption of M-silicon macs and their success. Or Nvidia's monopoly in AI.

Yeah, it's great. So great that intel has no current plans for a follow up of this chip. Also keep in mind this is barely just as efficient as M1 in some cases.

That's a 4 year old chip. On 5nm TSMC  vs 3nm. Looking at it from that context it's less impressive.

I do hope intel continue with follow up to lunar lake. But intel does have a bit of a history of working on great things and then axeing those very same projects.
