Valve has revealed new season pass guidelines for game developers and publishers selling on Steam. Game sellers will no longer be allowed to hide behind mystery boxes when selling season passes, and they will be held accountable when they fail to deliver promised content on time.

Here's the "rub" of being on the "bleeding edge"...

Companies like providing a "season pass" for some undefined period of time that they may (or NOT!) provide an undefined addition (or additions) to some game.

The 'blind faith' is that the total cost of the addition(s) are more then the cost of the 'season pass' (which the developer can easily ensure that is true) AND that these additions are actually WORTH getting in the 1st place.

So for a game you have not played as of yet, would you purchase the game + season pass up front?
IMHO THAT might not be all that great of an idea as the game might SUCK or you might not like it  which would make whatever 'content' that eventually be released somewhat USELESS to you.
