Brazil's data protection agency, ANPD, has ordered Meta to halt its training of generative AI systems within the country. The ANPD cited concerns about user privacy and the potential for harm, and as per Meta's latest statement to TechCrunch, the company is hitting the brakes in Brazil for now, while it sorts everything out. Long-term plans remain unclear at this point.
