PC market: Q4 2023 the weakest quarter since 2006, Apple incurs massive losses

Sales of desktops, workstations and notebooks in the Christmas quarter of 2023 fell to an all-time low. Around 67 million PCs were shipped worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Yes Apple's solution is to further raise prices and/or cut specs. Good to see their overpriced hardware facing reality for once. If you release new products that do nothing but change the CPU and that for the vast majority of people won't improve the experience at all and raise prices you will fall hard. M3 like M2 is a waste of silicon for the average Joe compared to M1. Even efficiency has gone backward as they face physics.

Apple wants to keep on and on and on about its silicon being the fastest ever, but 99% of tech buying consumers don't care about any of it. The average Joe is not doing CPU intensive stuff. Majority of people are doing PC tasks through a web browser. Apple's BMW chip isn't going to enhance that one iota. Gamers are still opting more for AMD/Intel based machines as well.

Even efficiency has gone backward as they face physics.

Actually loss of efficiency is related to losing their top chip designer and other high profile engineers to Nuvia(now at Qualcomm) few years ago. Hence the low improvements as well.

Most Mac user have already done the jump to Apple's M1/M2/M3 machines. They age very well and even with the M1 machine there is no need for most users to upgrade. There is a limit with Mac userbase.
