And often do you watch blockbusters on a 6-7" screen at night? ))
Because aside from this area, AMOLED is no good for anything else. During the day, it is 100% inferior to IPS in terms of real visible contrast. The panel resource is 2-3 times lower. At an angle, the same Samsung tops have a nasty green tint, despite the fact that they produce them themselves (for some reason the A5x series doesn't have it and everything is fine).
The response is a matter that can be solved with IPS; there are fast matrices.
Brightness - visually, on a white background, AMOLED miserably loses to IPS in office and daylight.
The color resolution of AMOLED on smartphones is most often 1.5-2 times lower than that of the same IPS panel at the officially specified resolution.
Well, the nail in the coffin of AMOLED is the almost unavoidable vile low-frequency flicker, and where they try to fight it - a sharp drop of 100-150 times in native contrast and banding on gradients and very poor color accuracy, despite the DCI-P3 space.
Question - why do you need AMOLED in daylight or office/home lighting, with its disadvantages and danger to the eyes (especially children, whose nervous system is developing and long-term damage is maximum from low-frequency flicker)?
And why do you need 7" shovels if you can only comfortably hold smartphones 5.5" maximum in your hand? Do you spend hours staring at your smartphone screen, damaging your eyesight?
I prefer to watch movies on a projector with a huge screen, although their native contrast by AMOLED standards is simply disgraceful (industrial cinemas on average actually have a native on/off contrast of 2000:1 on 3xDLP - about the same as glossy IPS/VA), but the size of the picture matters much more...
AMOLED benefits manufacturers (with a dark theme, of course), but not consumers. A flock of sheep, believing the cunning marketer, sadly buys AMOLED, because they are simply left with no choice. And where is the free market?
