OnePlus has started selling its latest unusual smartphone and laptop accessory. Not only does the device support Qi wireless charging by a small magnetised puck, but it also has a water cooling solution to keep devices cool.

I know there's gonna be some people who see this as stupid, and for most applications I agree, however I've seen plenty of niche applications where external phone cooling is required because of performance issues otherwise. The most common I've seen is issues with iPhones running hot when running face tracking applications that interface with PC programs, mainly the kinds of stuff vtubers and other virtual avatar users use for face tracking. iPhones are kinda the most common device used for this simply because there aren't many standalone devices that do face tracking to that same level, and a magnetic attached watercooler is preferable than a fan based device because a fan generates noise that would get picked up on a mic. I could see this being a niche product for that application.

I'd pick this up as my phone often overheats while wireless charging in the sun. BUT I find it amusing OnePlus latest flagship dropped wireless charging. I know not everybody uses wireless charging that's all I use so it's real shame I can't upgrade my OnePlus 10 pro to the 11

I wonder if I can mod this to somehow work on a GPU, at least of the back side of the GPU as a extra cooler for the core area, maybe a thermal pad on the back of the GPU and this connected to it? Might buy it just to try it out.
