Electric vehicles no longer the greenest as buyers want bigger and more powerful EV trucks and SUVs

Fully electric vehicles now occupy only four of the top dozen or so slots in the greenest American cars ranking, down from seven last year. The plug-in or gasoline hybrids of the 2022 model year turned out to be more energy-efficient than new EVs that are constantly growing in size and horse power.

So basically the same story as always: people with low self esteem that need to drive a big car just to feel like they have a pair of balls ruin everything for the rest of humanity who don't need an oversized car to feel good about themselves 👍

Nah, its not as bad, electric cars for environment dont do much, they dont reduce CO2 to an extent to curb or slow global warming. So even if every citizen of the world buys EV, nothings gonna change in real life.

The problem isnt with regular Joe's and Jane's, the problem lies within industries and corporations, those are the ones eroding, deplelting Earth's resources and spewing toxic waste and CO2 into the land and atmosphere in such amounts, that its impossible to even compare to what whole humanity with their personal cars do.

Its an easy way to pretend that consumers are now going to change the world to a greener, more fair place for everyone to live. They wont, we wont make a difference with buying electric vehicles, not at all.

Aaaand... You're wrong! The sticker also is wrong.

If your EV is charged by solar panels on your roof, it's green. Regardless of how big it or how"inefficient" it may be watts/mile. Even if it is charged by a fossil fuel power plant, it's still green in comparison. Time and again studies have proven said power plants are far greater in efficiency than the gasoline engine in a motor vehicle. *Any* EV is by default more efficient than a hybrid, let alone non-hybrid, vehicle.

The greenest vehicle is none. Next would be an unpowered bicycle, skateboard, rollerblades etc.

The emissions profile depends also on how much CO2 is emitted per KWh where the EV is charged, thus as another writer says, if it's 100% solar then it must be greener than a hybrid. If average values are used for e.g. the U.S., then 61% of electricity is generated using coal or gas, so a very efficient ICE *may* be more "green" than a very heavy EV. Normally people don't transition from a small and underpowered gas vehicle to a electric SIC though.

reason #1 why EV market in US is screwed. its not enough for EV's to be more efficient than ICE vehicles. US drivers need to have (max) power for EVERYTHING! why? for reaching next traffic light faster or to race their daily beater at the drags for personal glory. jokes.
