The LG Gram 17 (17Z90Q) is very light at 1,350 grams, and it features an Alder Lake processor, Thunderbolt 4 as well as room for two PCIe 4 SSDs. This is complemented by excellent battery life and a matte 17-inch display in the 16:10 format (2,560x1,600 pixels).

Very nice welcome to the matte display.
They are still too expensive, still if i was to get a office laptop this would be ones of the top list because of the excellent display and overall quality.

The pursuit of weight turned into a high noise, this is not a deal for casual workes...

It is necessary to add the second heat pipe and increase the diameter of the cooler by 1.5-2 times (the place is enough). This will increase the weight by 200-300g, but the laptop will still be super-light for 17", but much quieter (or faster if the owner in the profile wants maximum performance from PSU).

Resolution 2560x1600 (and even with a slow panel at 60Hz, instead of 165Hz) - do not understand what? Neither a sharp picture in FHD movies/games and videos, nor you a sharp picture in 4K movies and videos. Why install such an idiotic resolution of LG and another laptop makers? If for more than a year there are 4K@120Hz IPS panels?

The memory need  soldered from 32GB or 2 slots mandatory - today 16GB is wildly not enough for any tasks. Some pages in the Internet are eating 12GB in chrome. With only 16GB (real free only 12Gb(!) under W11) you can forget about the comfortable use of VM machines - this is now a common thing for many workers in offices and even at home.

Super detailed and fantastic review. When do you think it would become available to buy in europe?
My another question is how rigid is the build quality? Is it strong enough against bend?

This laptop is fabulous for tasks like Visual Studio for software development or productivity work such as creating large spreadsheets on its high resolution screen. It is far lighter than most 15.6 laptops. And its battery life is outstanding. The review was correct on numbers but didn't highlight these advantages (screen, battery) enough IMO.

With 16GB of soldered memory?! Don't make fun of my slippers. All professional programmers have been using at least 32GB for a long time. This is the minimum amount of memory for comfortable work in heavy studios and with VM machines.

32GB is now $170-$210 retail for a $1600 laptop is only 12% of retail price. And this laptop even without a discrete card... You have to be unrealistically greedy to soldered only funny 16GB in 2022 with the prospect of using at least 2+ years ahead.

Usually such nonsense is written by marketers sent to such sites. Real people-professionals will only shrug their shoulders and will not buy this if there is less than 32GB (or 2 slots) for serious tasks. A completely useless device in heavy professional tasks, unless these are some primitive tasks (for example, a realtor worked with db, etc.).

So many detailed specs... and then you get even the most basic info incorrect.
The Gram 17 has *NEVER* been a 15" model... and *NEVER* sold for $749... but you list it was such with the disclaimer "alternate specs". (Then it's not the Gram 17... it's the Gram 15.)

As someone else pointed out, modern multi-process browsers are massive RAM hogs. I wouldn't touch a Windows laptop with only 16GB non-upgradeable RAM with a ten-foot pole. Fortunately, the 2022 LG Gram 17 is also available preconfigured with 32GB RAM. Unfortunately, it, too, is soldered-in.

In another vein, on the 2020 model the second SSD slot is limited to only 2 PCIe lanes rather than a full 4. Is that still the case for the 2022 model?

Finally, the matte screen is a big improvement. Even indoors with carefully controlled lighting and lid angles, reflections on older models with ultra-glossy screens can be very annoying.

Nope, not factual. Anyway, these are available with 32GB RAM. A larger concern would be the lack of Linux compatibility, but that's mitigated by the release of WSL2 for W11.

Somewhere available, but somewhere not. If there are slots, there is no point in worrying about this - even if they don't even install minimal 8GB at all, you can just buy 2 ram plank and insert your own at least 16, at least 32, at least 64. But here you will definitely be ambushed and a sharply high price for a penny now at a cost memory...
