NVIDIA released a low-key update on its plans for end-of-lifing cards based on the Kepler architecture. According to a new post on NVIDIA's support site, Kepler cards like the GeForce GTX 780 Ti will no longer receive driver updates from August 2021 onwards.

Bad timing from Nvidia given the actual GPU shortage and overpricing.
Maybe a petition on change.org could help to change their mind.

And while we're at it we can ask for new drivers for mobile legacy cards like GTX 770m which are very capable of running a lot of games :)

This was expected, but still sad for me. I've been running a GTX 660 ever since it came out, and it's still going strong, tho I did have to clean & lube the fan bearings a few years ago.

Like me, my whole computer system is old, but thankfully still going!

I never really do comments on articles but I just really had to add one about this.

I built a PC at the end of 2012 with a GTX 680 4GB card in it and it has been an absolute champion. I know it's time for an upgrade though. I had just been waiting until it was reasonable to upgrade to a whole new rig but...

Enter the chip shortage. I have been trying for months to get my hands on any kind of new card but I refuse to pay triple the MSRP.

I understand that EOL has to happen eventually for PC parts and that by any normal metric it is time for Kepler to go out of support. My issue with this decision is that Nvidia KNOWS how bad it is out of here. The KNOW it's almost impossible to  get their products. I understand that they don't want it to be this way but I wish that they would delay this until at least the end of the year so that those of us who are stuck right now have some hope of upgrading before our systems start running into constant driver issues.

Just my two cents...
