my first sight
1. amd made lazy things again. same chips exept memory, full controller or 3/4 of it. understandable tho.
2. look at the full lineup https://www.amd.com/en/products/specifications/compare/graphics/9031,9016,8911,8976
it seems two, lesser models, 5300 and especially 5600 would be more energy efficient than their faster brothers. 400-500mhz difference is no joke. 5600 is basically max-q. or max-qq. which is good.
3. why are everybody missing the point? we all need good, worthy products from manufacturers. forget about nvidia vs amd for a second. in the laptop market efficiency=ALL, who cares if you card is fast enough when it consumes 1.5x power? example: desktop vega versus pascal, 580 vs 1060-equally good in opinions and sales. laptop vega versus pascal, 560 vs 1050. amd is non existent. nobody wants 560 in their laptops, extra 20-30 watts is too much. for oems and for consumers.
4. not sure about my future summer laptop :)
either 15w renoir 6-8 cores+radeon 5300(or geforce alternative)
or 45w renoir 6-8 cores+radeon 5600(or geforce alternative)
5. ok i just saw a couple 5300 vs 5500 videos and the difference is pretty small. vega 20 is trash btw(all three from macbook vs macbook testing), dont tell me next time that 2018 macbook is worth buying, even with 1k usd off.
..
after an hour of thinking i decided, 5600 is too much for me, 5300 or nvidia 1650 is fine. 15w ryzen 6/12 or 8/16. not sure if i will find such configuration till mid year.
