Title: Microsoft continues efforts to convince Windows 10 users to upgrade to TPM 2.0-supported PCs
Post by: Redaktion on April 20, 2025, 08:03:57
Windows 10 still has a large user base, with many holding off on upgrading to Windows 11 due to the TPM 2.0 requirement. Microsoft is once again urging this set of users to upgrade their PCs.

"While Windows 11 is slowly gaining more popularity among users..."

FALSE statement.

All that might be said is that WIN11 is gaining market SHARE. Period.

Users likely detest WIN11 as much as they did before (or even MORE so!) but over time some systems are ether retired/replaced or the users begrudgingly install WIN11.

Market share does not equate to likability.

My upgrade was quite simple actually.

The tool said I didn't qualify due to old hardware.

I logged into KVM, went to the Windows VM parameters and clicked up the TPM option and set it to 2.0.

The next day MSFT opened the upgrade path and it completed in a couple of hours.

Then I logged the VM off.

Maybe I will get around to actually using it someday.

Windows 10 is already super slow OS vs 8 core version. Especially on hard disk and old integrated graphics. And w.update offers incorrect drivers.

That was true with Windows 8.1 too. If you haven't upgraded to a SSD/NVME for your OS drive you're the only one to blame. HDD are for storage only, not regular R/W

That's called engagement farming, clickbait, or performative behavior on behalf of the writers of the blog.
