The Red Pro uses conventional magnetic recording (CMR) and is one of the highest-capacity CMR models available today. CMR recording eliminates the data rewriting delays associated with shingled magnetic recording (SMR).

That's a pretty steep price. The price per GB on traditional drives seems like it has been quite stagnant in the past decade or more.
