The first major in-depth analysis of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra's Leica cameras turned out to be a double-edged sword for the phone. Announced for the European market at Mobile World Congress 2025, this new camera flagship from China delivered excellent performance in certain areas but only secured a rather mediocre position in DxOMark's smartphone camera ranking.

The question is, why are DXOMark historically so downbeat on Xiaomi, when others doing camera comparisons often rank the latest from Xiaomi as the 'current best available' (until a competitor temporarily takes the crown).
Is there something about xiaomi's priorities which don't work well with dxomark's testing methods? Do they have some bias towards them? Or are xiaomi's cameras genuinely not as good on a technical level, but impressive on a subjective level?

if only this article outlined what type of optical zoom the phone uses compared to others, because most optical 'zoom' is actually software interpolation between the max-'zoom' setting and no zoom

There don't seem to be many people left from the DSLR test times. Apparently, they don't even understand the basics of photography.
