Title: Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 15 Snapdragon laptop review: Finally easier to repair
Post by: Redaktion on February 14, 2025, 17:43:19
The latest Surface Laptop 7 addresses some longstanding issues with the series in regards to sustainability and repairability. For around $1500 USD, however, the price is arguably too steep for an ARM-based Windows PC.

Charge $400. Because without x86 compatibility, this and all other ARM devices on Windows are hobbled for life.

Thanks, but no thanks. Reddit is littered with reports of little annoyances. Printers don't work, other peripherals don't work, specialized applications don't work. Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake are efficient enough for most and have good-enough battery life. Most app developers won't properly support a platform that has a 0.8% market share. The greatest thing about Windows on ARM (at least for now) is that it is forcing x86 vendors to step up their game. Of course, if the world switches to WoARM (it may be a long road / may never happen) so will I.

Unbelievably cheap-looking keyboard and touchpad, plus everything above mentioned by indy and Kris.
