This has been all consumers have been asking for for a very long time now, buh I guess tech can't progress at once.

The problem is planned obsolescence. Despite what everyone wanting was more battery life and batteries lasting longer and replaceable. They pushed people towards making phones thinner which no one asked for. The result is you get shorter battery life, and with smaller container poorer heat management so shorter lifespan as well. Add in sealed batteries that are expensive to replace, and you push people towards spending 1 grand every 2 years for a phone that is only 0.1% better in real life from your last one.
