Recent demo videos of Google's new mixed reality operating system, Android XR, suggest that the familiar "Hey Google" hotword used to activate Google Assistant on Android devices may soon be a thing of the past. Google aims to position Gemini as its primary AI assistant and will likely introduce a new voice command to accompany it.https://www.notebookcheck.net/Hey-Google-is-outdated-The-hotword-of-the-future-is-here.933527.0.html
So they've upgraded from "hey Google" to "hey Gemini"?? Woooow super innovative (hope you picked up on the sarcasm). Having to say a hot word at all is outdated. Also I seriously don't care what upgrades they give, if they don't include routines, I don't want it.
This would make about as much sense to me as renaming Twitter to X. Everyone already knows the keyword - now you're gonna expect me to change my behavior for what? What happens when they come out with a new AI model that isn't named Gemini? Everyone has to change the keyword again? What would even be the point of this? You want people to be aware of your lasting brand name, not some transient product name.
No worries! Google will backtrack this as they do with all of their life-changing ideas.
