Title: Qi2 without magnets: MagSafe alternative causes confusion with misleading marketing
Post by: Redaktion on August 20, 2024, 12:49:09
The Qi2 standard was supposed to open up Apple MagSafe to Android smartphones, chargers and accessories from third-party providers without having to pay license fees to Apple. However, not only has the market launch taken longer than expected, the branding surrounding two components of the standard is now causing confusion on the internet.

Dear Mr. Brecher,

Unfortunately for your readers, your article is incorrect. All Qi2 devices have magnets. There are no exceptions. The source for your article, a blog by Mishaal Rahman, was incorrect. I have informed Mr. Rahman of his information was mistaken and he has admitted his error, although last I checked that fact was well buried in the thread of comments his blog generated.

It would be helpful for your readers to set the record straight.

Thank you.
