Title: Lithium metal battery with over 500 Wh/kg developed
Post by: Redaktion on July 12, 2024, 21:27:05
Batteries in electric cars, but also for any other mobile use, require a high energy density. However, this is often associated with a shorter service life, which a new type of structure aims to change.

I will believe in the next promises when I see 20Wh batteries weighing 42-44g in smartphones.

The numbers provided are kinda miss-leading. "survived 130 cycles" and "over 300 charging cycles were achieved" tells us nothing. Usually this is a metric of when the capacity drops to 80% due to full charge/discharge cycles. But these volatile batteries can degrade with time even if they are not used. Also it might be that further degradation is very sharp.
Tldr: it is SUS how they intentionally obfuscate the performance of their battery.
