Title: Cable Matters launches world's first Thunderbolt 5 cable, offers higher bandwidth than OCuLink
Post by: Redaktion on June 30, 2024, 17:42:43
Cable Matters has launched the world's first Thunderbolt 5 cable, and it has support for up to 80 Gbps of bi-directional data transfer bandwidth. To compare, Thunderbolt 4 maxes out at 40 Gbps, and one of the leading eGPU solutions, OCuLink, tops out at 64 Gbps.

We will look at the implementation in devices.
I hope that there will be no more options where the speed will be "cut" due to the fact that not all PCIs are connected to it.
Because otherwise, what's the point!? Again, just marketing numbers!?

Nice, everyone forgetting oculink x8 is a thing. Wish ASUS did a better job of promoting XGMobile being oculink x8 and had used the standard oculink connector (sff-8611) instead of their own proprietary connector.
