Title: Panasonic Lumix S9 image leak spoils tiny, slow 26 mm pancake prime lens, articulating screen coming for full-frame creator camera
Post by: Redaktion on May 18, 2024, 21:09:04
The latest Panasonic Lumix S9 leak claims the new compact full-frame camera will be announced alongside two companion lenses, while leaked promotional images confirm the upcoming lens. The 26 mm pancake prime lens mounted to the Lumix S9 will supposedly result in a package smaller than even the Fujifilm X100VI.

This may be the dumbest product Panasonic has ever made.

The camera body is a neat idea - essentially shooting for a FF ILC version of a Ricoh GR III.  However, the pancake prime at f/8 widest is silly.  It's already an extending pancake - I'd personally like to see it extend further and be at least f/4, and be more "pocketable" when collapsed.  I'm not sure why they seem to be so concerned with being slimmer than the X100VI even when the lens is extended.

Dumbest product unless it's priced under $400

That pancake lens might as well be a body cap. What's interesting is that this is a full-frame interchangeable lens camera in the same form factor as the Fuji X100 series. That's truly interesting.
