Tech YouTuber Linus Tech Tips wanted to prove that it is possible to put together a gaming PC that costs no more than the PS5 - but does more. It only worked on paper. It also requires compromises that hardly any gamer would make.https://www.notebookcheck.net/Well-known-tech-YouTuber-declares-PS5-dead-wants-to-provide-proof-by-building-his-own-PC-for-the-same-price-and-fails-all-along-the-line.811995.0.html
Well sure, forgetting for the moment that most 'consoles' are sold as "loss leaders" (IE: it costs more to make them then what they are sold for) the assembly of a PC with "RETAIL" parts is ALWAYS going to cost more. :)
However when you consider the ACTUAL wholesale costs and/or the prices of discounted or used hardware the costs of PC gaming drops considerably.
One must factor in the endless MS updates along with non-stop Nvidia/AMD driver updates into how much a royal PITA a 'gaming PC' can be to own and 'maintain' an 'inexpensive' console appears attractive.
So, just like this article is a printed "reactin" on a Youtuber and not really news, the whole reason LTT exists is to show people these types of scenarios in an entertaining way. You know, content creation. What a waste of print...
I wouldn't be caught dead playing on a filthy console.
Compromises that pc gamers would not make = buying used hardware?
How out of touch is this author?
The price of new components puts them far above the budget of a large percentage of pc gamers.
Up until my latest computer, all my previous machines were made from used hardware.
They just represent far better value for money and for the most part will last many years with no issues.
Parts become "outdated" far faster than they become unreliable or obsolete.
As for the case and peripherals pushing the budget over $500, it would not take buying mang games before that difference was surpassed given the bloated price that you have to pay for console versions of games.
Well this person clearly doesn't have much experience in either side. Coming from a "console" player (had to use console because of money my whole life) now having a PC I would never go back. Console is full of garbage.
I wonder why the writer of this article is so dismissive of the used market. As someone who has bought and sold hundreds of PC's on the used market I know just how many "gamers" get their first PC that way. I would say that a good 60-70% of the PC's I sold went to new PC gamers who were switching from console. Building a PC for under $500 that performs the same as the PS5 isn't new. I have been building systems of that caliber for that price range for almost 2 years now. It is quite presumptuous to assume that most "gamers" wouldn't make those compromises. I see them making those compromises every day.
This article is wrong in so many ways. And doesn't have any grasp on what gamers would "compromise". I also think the writer fails to realize that consoles at 500$ are sold at a LOSS. I have both PC and console and I'm fine with a 500$ PS5. But Linus proves you can hit the same numbers for the same price and btw have a full functioning PC as well.
My main issue with the video is that it's comparing a used machine versus a new one. A used ps5 from ebay with disk tray runs about $250+s/h. The comparison is moot from the get go. Now if you want to start arguing about the value over the lifespan that might deserve to be looked into. Personally I have a machine from each faction and main the ps5 just cause that's what I do, despite having a pc that blows the others out of the water.
Why is changing bios options 'not an option for most gamers'?
Is the implication that most gamers are too stupid to know to go through their settings and change/update things?
Is that really a mark against the PC, or just a window into the experience of this author?
I see pc boys are getting mad talking about their used parts pcs:
1) you can't compare the cost of an used PC and a new PS5. See how much pc you can build for $250, the cost of a used PS5. that's the only comparison you can make. You compare new and new, used and used unless you're rigging the comparison.
2) so what if Sony is losing money on the console? What do you care as a gamer? The loss just shows it's impossible to build a new machine with new parts for the same price. Because the components cost money. Why does the gamer care about the Sony loss leader? Seriously I can't understand this argument. It's unfair or something? Immoral? You can't build a new machine with new parts because they cost too much. End of sorry. Morality considerations or fairness don't matter for the price
Linus kind of sucks. I don't really trust him and that's on me for being skeptical of almost everyone and thing.
I don't get it. Just buy what you want to play the games you want on. Sometimes I wish I was a kid again with my NES. The joy and excitement of saving up and buying my SNES - those moments were magic.
I loved MMOs early days too. Ultima online, Evercrack, even WoW. I wouldn't go back to one now - just seeing how some people get about WoW is insane.
Imagine creating a hit-piece based on a video you never even watched. He even said at the end of the video that the PS5 is still the better option when it comes to price to performance. He never said it was dead.
You obviously didn't watch the video...
Typical click for hits...
Don't people just get both? Like yeah, there's stuff you need pc for. But I also have the consoles. It's not like they are that exspensive.
When I first got into PC gaming, I made tons of compromises. I didn't even get my first brand new GPU until like 2021 (and yeah I paid way too much for it).. I don't know many people in my personal life who are snobby enough to be like, "eeww I don't want USED parts in my PC!".
Typical out of touch author with L takes. I'd be surprised if dude plays anything other than the newest Pokemon games on a Nintendo switch. Btw, try watching the video before trying to write an opinion piece on it. Smh
I used to play with consoles but switched to PCs a while ago and now I rarely play on consoles. I also have a gaming laptop and ROG with a pretty large library with ultimate Game Pass (PC), Steam and Epic. Ny back catalog will never get cleared. The exclusives were the only real draw for me on consoles and with most things being available on PC nowadays for me gaming on console doesn't make sense. But I guess it all depends on where your friends play and what you can afford.
I love that all my games are accessible anytime. I'd rather potentially pay higher upfront costs and have an access to my library and the added functionality and mods on my PC system than be stuck with an outdated console in 2 years.
Lol garbage article. Each system has its pros & cons, the PS5s biggest pro being cost for performance which Linus pretty much stated if you watch the video.
Personally, I game on both as well as a Nintendo Switch. I dont spend as much time gaming as I used to; however, I could care less what runs the games I want to play.
Consoles are sold as a loss leader. Business term jargon for they cost more to manufacture than they charge price wise. They do this because they make their money off of the games and associated subscription services. Not sure about Sony but Microsoft puts the manufacturing cost of an Xbox at somewhere north of $700. That would be a more appropriate comparison.
Use "Storage:" instead of "Hard Disk:" and states a non hard disk drive.
I've been building new PCs with 0 new parts better/equal hardware than a console all the way back to the PS3
The key is timing. Here in the US there is always a time you can get a good deal. So if you wait a month or 2 and get parts as they go on sale, building one for cheap is easy.
The death of consoles will have nothing to do with that though. In the first place, the people building custom PCs are not the same people who use consoles. What will kill consoles is more and more stuff moving to the cloud. The real audience of consoles are people who just want to game and don't want to deal with the hassle.
PS For those saying used PC parts are same as used PS5, that isn't true at all. First of all, the warranty on many PC parts tend to be far longer than a PS5 warranty. No, reselling does not void your warranty. And even if a part does fail, you only need to replace 1 part. Where as a failed PS5 is dead. On top of that you can run diagnostics on many PC parts to find if you get a defective part and return it. But for PS5 it is hard to say if there is some niche issue
There is nothing wrong getting used PC parts but if he is honest, he should have at least made the comparison against a used PS5. Also there is no mention of input devices, keyboard or controller, which will invariably adds to the bills.
Not a good article in the slightest
This article is misleading at best. It's fair to include the price of a case and peripherals, but it doesn't need to cost $1000. One could easily spend this much, but the point of the video was budget parts. A serviceable case and keyboard/mouse combo cost about $50 each, new. Windows 11 can be downloaded and used with core functionality for free
The current gen consoles are good value. If one only has $500 to spend, get the PC, because it's useable as is. There are many games that are actually free to play. With a PS5, new games are $70. Older ones are cheaper, but the free tier is much worse compared to PC and there's a monthly fee to play online. Last point, if one's budget is this tight, gaming should be a lower priority and a PC is infinitely more useful for work.
Many people have a work provided laptop and I know I need some time to unwind. A PS5 makes a lot of sense in that situation.
I really can't comprehend the author's thought process. His previous articles were about free games and discounted games on steam AND Playstation. His bio is about his first joy getting a PC.
Yet here he is bashing/gatekeeping PC gaming with an article that is misleading at best, full of personal rant at worst. If you want to rant then do that somewhere else without leveraging and staining a media outlet that we, as readers, do trust and respect.
This article was written to get clicks by stating a controversial opinion.
This article is awful. It completely misses the point and focused on arguing semantics and to call consoles superior in anything other than ease of use is laughable. I've grown up with the latest PlayStation in my home since the 90s, but this time e I said no. I refuse to buy I to an ecosystem that is blatantly already outdated and has to sell itself as "next gen" by offering a gimmick controller that will break after two years. We all know a ps5 pro is coming out this year that will likely be as powerful as the original ps5 should have been. The ONLY thing Sony has over pc is it's exclusives and more and more they are being ported to pc, I really want to play ff7r but not enough to buy that massive ugly monstrosity that sounds like a jet engine.
The article is pretty good because it does state that Linus was not able to meet the price of a new PS5 without compromises and because it enraged a lot of the commenters. It's funny how we have all these comments on this article and none of them mention that he used an Intel video card.
Also, Sony does not sell the PS5 at a loss
99% of the comment section probably has no idea what kind of requirements it takes to run a modern game. Horizon Forbidden West for example is playable at a locked 60 fps at 2k on ps5 for $500. This is not possible to replicate on pc in the slightest. The recommended minimum you for this game cost more than Linus' entire build. We get you love your pc but it cost you much more than a console will.
Let's put it this way console for kids and pc for true gamers and adults 😎 💪 💪
1. Most new PC parts will slaughter a PS5. Using the used market makes for an easier comparison, and PC warranties last longer than a PS5.
2. You didn't add mandatory online fees, which add another $400
3. Linus never said consoles were dead in a video.
TL/DR: You fucked it up in so many ways, you couldn't have more even if you tried. I named just 3 examples how.
This ad brought to you by Sony.
(Honestly, how else did "PlayStation" get the number of dislikes on the LTT video. See caption below video embed.)
Dude first you barely need any skill to build a PC there are tutorials everywhere on the internet. Second if piggybacking off a YouTube video and bring incredibly biased towards an option is game journalism then maybe I should be one haha
Not the best article really, I mean for what you're writing on,I'm surprised you didn't bring up any mini PC or laptop or even the steamdeck that can still provide lots of gameplay potential at the same price as a ps5 (SD can run helldivers 2 for example)
Plus with any of them, you can start to buy a PC library of games that you can use forever even if you don't like the options of what you bought. If you bought a game you like on ps5 but don't like the console, you're stuck with that game on ps5.
And yeah starting with building a whole PC would be intimidating, but learning how to do a ssd swap in the steamdeck or ram upgrade in a laptop would be good experience.
I dont trust parts mainly because you never know if something is wrong with them, you can not trust every seller to be truthful.
* used parts
Console vs PC is basically tell me you are broke without telling me. If you can't afford to get a Console and a PC , you should be out there working on your finances lmao
Kind of missed the entire point of the video. It's dispelling the myth that for a competent gaming PC setup you need thousands of dollars.
You don't.
If you want to spend less, you can, and still get a machine that is good enough.
You can always upgrade as well, bit by bit. Consoles the option is 'add storage' or 'buy a new one'
PC and consoles both are great, but in the long run the computer is far more flexible.
Hate the article or not, the premise is silly. Anyone that says otherwise is likely being a homer to PCs.
Commenters crying that the article is missing the point when the YouTube video itself is titled "Let's kill the PS5" when nothing in the video comes close to actually doing that is funny.
Let's take out the building needed, the lack of warranties, the lack of a dedicated OS specific to the hardware, the lack of dedicated and exclusive games support, the size, the ease of use and you know...all the actual reasons to buy a console and just look at the hardware because that's all that really matters.
Then I guess it's sort of almost the same. Except for the fact that they are used, likely cost more than is presented after taxes, shipping and whatever other fees, have no support and likely would require far more tinkering .... but you know it can play a handful of games with a decent FPS.
lol...gotta love gamers
To be fair how many people actually bought the PS5 for retail price?
what a lazy article, the point of the video was to show that used hardware prices are coming down. Did you even watch? Linus mentions how PC still doesn't beat a PS5 dollar for dollar with new hardware and it still barely does used. However, he mentions that most PC users already have a system that can now be upgraded with cheaper used components, making it cheaper for them to upgrade than to buy a PS5. Consoles sell at a loss to upcharge on peripherals and their game stores, PC new hardware will likely never again be cheaper.
Without trying to defend any side:
You should label this as an opinion piece because that is what this is.
There is no new insight or value in any of this, apart from it showing that you apparently do not like the channel/the video.
Especially that last sentence, "It is therefore unlikely that many gamers will follow the YouTuber's example and build their own PC from used hardware instead of buying a PS5." does not belong in any objective article. At least if you are not an oracle that can see the future.
Using LTT as your source, that's just bad reporting
Please retire from writing articles. Used components are fine as long as you know what you're doing. Like someone else said, LTT is meant to show you scenarios, just in an entertaining way. I have used components and my PC runs perfectly fine.
Excuse me, do you have something against LLT's YouTube page because that's all you proved in this article.
Tell me you're desperate for views without telling me. This guy knows nothing about computers. He must be a PlayStation fanboy who can't get any streamers to watch him on a dead console so he wrote a dead article instead.
Literally built a new PC with "new" (last gen) hardware for less than $1K, at the time of purchase. Thanks to some promos and combo deals i got what I needed for less than i expected. A friend had a case that was similar to the one I was already looking at, and gave it to me since he upgraded his case. This opened my budget up to pick up a monitor cable, and a keyboard and mouse.
My PC is a legit budget build but it's gonna run whatever it is that I want it to. I have a buddy running Diablo 4 at 60 FPS on a 2070 TI, and dude couldn't be happier.
Not only was the point of the video to show you can used hardware atta deal, it'll perform almost as good as a brand new console. But if you already have a PC (depending on the architecture of your MB), you can upgrade to newer components to get just a little more out of it.
At the end of the day, it's up to the gamer. My friend is happy with his 60 FPS. I'm happy I got to get into PC gaming atta solid price point. To call LTT's video a failure because he didn't meet the name of the video is cheap and low. Go back and rewatch it. You got roasted in the comments on this one. Sent 'er a little too hard there bud...
Oh, you pissed off Linus zombie Cult now?
Such misinformation. I watched the whole video, they do this for fun as hypotheticals all the time. "Compromises no gamer would make" is a complete overstatement, the results very actually very similar side by side and there's so many alternatives for around the same price. Please look more into the subject you write about before making yourself look stupid in front of people who actually know about gaming and computer components.

I seriously hate this comment and what's most pathetic about it is there ALWAYS ONE in every one of these debates.
Now I own a PC, I have friends that are very well off and they ask what I paid for my GPU alone and laugh because they simply believe it's overpriced aka not worth the money.
So people generally have the mindset to go all in and not bit by bit because the concept is to build it and be futureproof for a bit. These days it's ridiculously overpriced.
Whether it's because of lack of components, mining, AI, automotive industry or whatever lame arse excuses Nvidia and whoever else is using its getting crazy unrealistic for most people.
Not because they are ALL broke but because they are sane, rational people who won't fall for it out of sheer morals. That or they see money in a different way. Why buy a PC when I could buy a boat, ATV, Dirt bike or whatever other toy they have been eyeballing.
Either way quit the poor crap you make us look bad. I think most people used Covid money to buy a beastly rig and now call people broke when they themselves are broke.
I did the exact same thing during covid. I took about $500 and tried to build a gaming PC for my kid that was comparable to an Xbox One. The caveat was that I recycled a ton of parts, including the case. I also had an unused Windows license from the PC the case originally housed. In the end I went a little over budget but I got it pretty close. But like I said, I recycled case, fans, cables, zip ties, and a 1TB HDD. I also had all the screws and other little bits you need.
I didn't like the bit about the time it takes to build a PC. Even a novice can build one in a few hours and it will last for years. I think the most difficult part of any build is connecting the case to the motherboard. You should definitely watch some videos if you're not familiar with that part.
Yeah, I built a gaming pc with used parts, back in the good old days of 2009.
I used it until 2019 or so. So I spent 500$ initially, then upgraded a few things over the next 10 yrs and probably spent 1000$ total.
All my friends bought 3 or 4 different consoles in that time.
I have 500 games on steam. Most of them cost less than a dollar.
So who spent too much money?
Also, building a computer is not difficult and it is fun. To me at least.

Massive RESPECT for old gamers Sheepgravy 👍 I began with Mattel Intelvision, to Atari 540st then 1040st, to bought 386sx25pc,and then began building my own for years afterwards. Frys Electronics was my best friend (buy 5 video cards, test, keep the best, return the rest LOL). I helped discover the power rails issue with the early Nvidia cards, knew the folks at Matrox 👍. Then one day I woke up and was sick of constant updates/upgrades, fishing for the latest drivers/patches, incompatibilities, overclocking etc. Now I just wanted to turn on and PLAY my games. Nice to play from a comfy couch on a bigscreen TV, with Pioneer Elite amp and 7.1 surround. Haven't touched my old PC in 8 years! Now use Xbox One (with Atmos and RIG 800LX) and PS5 (Steel Arctis 7P), but then suddenly got tired of games? ME? 😱🤯 Used to playing marathon runs on EQ 1&2,WoW, D&D, WoT, War Thunder, etc? Now it's all for Home Theater, movies, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. And FYI I had been a top PC IT tech for over 25 years now, and don't even want to touch one at home anymore? Whoa😱😱🤯💯‼️

This author is just a spoiled kid where mum and dad have deep pockets, most likely American as they don't care how much they spend on something they want, they think the more expensive the better as we see with apple devices 😂
Sorry if I generalize but if 995 out of 1000 Americans don't care then I owe an apology to the 5 who actually where born with a brain and common sense.
I'm pretty sure the author didn't understand the point of the video.
I'll one up the author on his claim that buying used wouldnt be a compromise that most people will take, I ran a cx750 PSU that I literally pulled out of a dump for 5 years because I didn't have the money to buy a brand new or even used one of the same quality, I ram 16gb of ddr3 from 3 different computers again, pulled out of the dump to save money, up until my most recent build, I didn't have a single brand new part, all in the spirit of saving money, I managed to put together an i7 4790k and a gtx 1060 build for about £300 back in 2018 all because I mounted it all on a piece of fiberboard I found and foraged for most of the other parts, this author is so backwards in thinking that people wouldnt be inclined to buy used parts that the article comes off as almost comedic, aside from the fact that building any pc with a comparable price tag and performance to a ps5 is an impressive feat to begin with
Quote from: Kylec on March 12, 2024, 14:57:23Dude first you barely need any skill to build a PC there are tutorials everywhere on the internet. Second if piggybacking off a YouTube video and bring incredibly biased towards an option is game journalism then maybe I should be one haha
You have too much faith in people. I've seen folks still screw up and/or not know what to even look for. This is what the consoles have created, entertainment centers for the masses, not gaming nerds.
Being a PC person, i no longer need an Xbox as all game are playable on Win10+ and Sony is slowly bringing their exclusives to the PC, so no need for PS5. Soon we will be able to use the VR2 on PC.
It's not like the consoles will disappear, but the manufacturers realizing a bigger crowd to sell games to rather than losing money on pushing a console.
While the article highlights Linuss experiment, it fails to provide perspective. The focus on cost-cutting measures and the omission of essentials make the comparison misleading. Additionally, the article doesn't go into the broader subject of gaming preferences and user needs. Rather than offering valuable insights, it perpetuates a narrow viewpoint, which could be considered a waste of journalism. This article lacks depth and fails to address the nuances of the gaming PC vs. console debate, making it less informative for readers seeking a comprehensive understanding and more a personal vendetta.
Intel ARC GPU was the worst he could have picked. They have been plagued with driver issues from day one. He could've have built a much better PC for the same price. Almost like he planned it to fail..
Quote from: Tech1 on March 11, 2024, 19:08:13I wouldn't be caught dead playing on a filthy console.

If you watch the video until the end, Linus actually concludes the exact thing as this article. He literally recommends most people just buy a PS5 and praises it for holding it's value for longer than previous consoles.
He makes the point though that the distance is already shrinking if you're a bit thrifty and willing to build a PC yourself, so another year or so, beating the PS5 will probably be possible. His build already did in some cases and that was even with the choice of Intel's GPU which he easily could have sidestepped as he noted.
So basically, you and Linus agree, don't really get the point of this article other than engagement/clicks. But if that was the goal, well played. :-)

Let's be honest, from your poor grammar and syntax it's pretty obvious that you're a child or a highschool dropout, there's no way that you earn your own money and your opinions on everything except icecream are invalid. I don't for a second believe you are currently using anything even remotely current or desirable, and that goes for the cheap off brand phone you're on reading this.
So much copium in these comments, from people deficient in their own lives desperate to compensate.
You guys opened a can of worms. PC enthusiasts don't want to hear it. I tried several times but I didn't find anyone really willing to discuss the topic. Just people who wanted to find a loophole to say my opinion is invalid. I prefer to play on console because of the experience. Time is at a premium for me and I don't have time fiddle when I want to game. I own a gaming PC as well, BTW. I've been building my own rig since the 90s.
That said, I understand the money thing if you start from scratch. But if you already are a PC gamer, it might be feasible in parts of the world to achieve similar results with only 500$.
I mean, my console setup doesn't cost less than a good gaming PC if you factor in everything. Big nice TV, pro controller, two consoles. In short, it depends.
I can't find the person that said you are saying you are broke if you play on college. In the off chance they see it. I'll post here.
LOL. Let's star with saying, so what? A lot of people need to be mindful of their spending. If console gaming give them the opportunity to have fun. More power to all of us gamers.
But let's get to the juicy part. This is another argument I had a million times. Someone can be even rich and not be willing to spend money and time on gaming. My ex boss was one of those. With that said. Even without being rich, there is a good chance my console setup costs more than your gaming PC. Think about that.
What PC gaming builder would settle for a $1k PC anyhow...we don't build to compete with PS5 that's like comparing a water gun to an ak15.
Console gaming is crap because gameson consoles are so watered down and basic. I have a friend that plays Elder Scrolls with me from his console and there so much I can do in game he cannot.
If the moron didn't choose a intel gpu it would've been a win. But he's no longer making good content. Just doing anything he can for clicks
This whole console versus PC thing is wrong-headed for most people. All of you have computers. Many of you have powerful computers because you need them to do other things other than gaming. So the question isn't console or PC, it's the question of whether you need to upgrade your PC situation enough to have a competent gaming computer, or do you forgo that and buy a console?
For me, someone who occasionally needs a lot of computer power, buying a console is a non-starter. For me, it would like shopping for a two slice toaster because sometimes I don't need four slices, and I don't want to use my four slice toaster. And, obviously, this applies to a lot of you, too.

And what about shipping? I saw this video. And many product he almost paid as much in shipping as the item he bought!
One HUGE detail that hasn't been addressed is the vast amount of free games available on PC compared to consoles. Epic games for example gives away a free game every week, plus an extra 15-20 at Christmas time, so about 70 a year. My Epic library has over 400 games I did NOT have to pay for (sure many are indie titles, but every year there's probably 20 or so AAA titles and a lot of those indie titles are undiscovered gems). Steam also has a huge library of free or free to play titles. This more than makes up for the cost of a PC compared to a console.
This article misses the point, of the build, completely;and it's target audience. For a casual gamer a console will always win. For the tech nerd, it's a self built PC. Heck, I just built an outdated i7-860, because I had a box of "attic" parts laying around. Works great for retro gaming and office type stuff. Best part....$0 because it was just junk I had laying around.
My gaming PC... It's a combo of new and used parts. Used MB, Used CPU, Used RAM, new nvme, new graphics, new PS. Old case I had laying around. I built a machine, capable of running MSFS(very demanding), in 4k VR, for about $1k total.
So yes, hard-core PC gamers WILL find deals on Used parts to build out the rig they need.

The exact same thing they're whining about the youtuber doing. Shoveling out bullshit for clicks and views.
What even is this article? I'm so confused. The point was completely missed. Did you even watch the video? Also, why are you acting like people don't regularly build PCs or that people don't buy used parts? They absolutely do? Do we live in the same reality?
Did you watch the video? This feels like it was written by a college student that does a book report without reading the book and used a very poor summary online as their reference. Or a gaslighting ex, both scenarios feel very possible because the point made in the article and point of the video are wildly different.
How much is GamersNexus paying you?
Gamers nexus must've paid well for this one.
Are you seriously this ignorant?
It's been a while since I last updated my gaming rig, but when I did I didn't buy a new case or even a used one. Why, I can imagine you must be asking... Because I already had a workable case containing my current computer. Instead, I bought a motherboard and CPU combo, some RAM, and a Video card. I didn't buy new peripherals or drives, once again because I already had them. Furthermore, I often buy used parts from a nearby computer salvage yard when I need them. That means I don't have to pay shipping costs. The last video card that I bought was a $100 card so that I could update my Mac Pro to the highest version of MacOS that it will support. Guess what? That was purchased used, without a warranty.
I don't know what world you're living in, but PC gamers often have to make hard decisions to stretch our money. Buying used is one of those decisions we sometimes make. LTT specifically caters to those of us who are more than willing to get our hands dirty in messing with our hardware. From what I saw, the LTT list was completely reasonable excepting the lack of a Windows license which can VERY cheaply be purchased online.
Furthermore, some of us absolutely HATE console controllers, the horrible markups on console games, and the closed nature of console gaming. I don't own a console. I don't want a console. I won't buy a console. Why would I do that when the controllers make my wrist ache and my hands cramp into uselessness. Why would I when I can buy games on Steam at 75% off. Why would I when I can go to ModDB and stretch my enjoyment of those games I own with a plethora of mods, maps, and skins for free.
Maybe you should learn something about a community before you decide what we are and are not interested in. You sure as hell don't speak for me.

I like and agree to that paragraph :)
its amazing how much this writer got this video wrong. Seriously, take down the article and maybe reconsider this guy. He missed the point by more than a country mile.
Author is clearly a fake "PC enthusiast" not likely to buy used hardware? How out of touch is this guy?
Did no one even proofread or edit this? Seriously, this is FAR from the normal level of quality for content I usually see on this website.
