Facebook and Instagram users in the European Union will soon be able to use both platforms completely ad-free, as long as users take out a paid subscription. Since this subscription was established primarily due to EU guidelines, it will not be offered in the rest of the world.

Cool but guess what: a majority of the users of SNS don't use a web browser to access the actual website for said SNS and instead use an app to access it, and the layman isn't going to go out of their way to install some sort of root based ad blocker or to use a VPN with ad blocking.

Ublock Origin works equally good with Firefox Mobile. Microsoft Edge will block all ads of those mentioned sites - also a mobile browser. But the easier and better solution is to use a private DNS such as AdGuard, that will remove all ads without root, without VPN, without doing anything at all in your phone but activating it via its app or by literally typing text on your own in the DNS part of the network settings of your phone (search "DNS" in settings). All of those work on both Android and iOS.
