Title: Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX electric concept car sets record, travelling over 1,000 km on one battery charge
Post by: Redaktion on April 14, 2022, 17:24:21
The Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX electric concept vehicle has travelled over 1,000km on a single battery charge. The recent test from Germany to France saw the car travel on regular roads with traffic and some poor weather conditions. During the trial, the average consumption for the vehicle was 8.8 kWh per 100 km (~62 miles), a record low.

Not many countries allow driving that fast, now how far does it go in an urban environment...

You know, that's quite a stupid question, considering range for many if not every EV is longer with slower speed :-D

Given that the average was under 90 km/h, it was by no means fast. Normally, when driving long distances, you expect an average over 100 km/h. It depends on traffic jams and how much time you spend on highways which should be a lot on a long distance trip. And 140 is a realistic highway speed, at least in Europe. At least until we get the mandatory speed limiters that are due this year IIRC (based on positioning and traffic sign recognition). I really do hope they will raise the speed limit to 160 where I live as nobody observes 130 anyway (they have been debating about it for decades). It will only get better if you go slower so I have no problem with that.

That's quite a stupid reply, the more traffic jams, the less effective KERS is because of sudden and abrupt breaking, the more kinetic energy wasted.
