If the Mac Mini were mounted on the BACK of a display... why would you mount it power button side toward the display?  If it's on the back, mount it so the bottom of the Mac Mini is facing outward...

This is why the VPs didn't address it. 

This is the Magic Mouse charging port all over again.  That one is on the bottom so dummies can't use the wireless mouse like a wired mouse.  Why?  Have you seen a teenagers lightning cable?  They use their phones plugged in the same way all these mouse geniuses want to use their wireless mouse as a wired mouse.  What do you think all that tension and torque will do to the cable and charging port? These critiques come from the same people who think parking lots with speed bumps are poor design because they can't drive 55mph through the lot.

The author obviously didn't think about their "gotcha" display mount scenario any more than the VPs who never considered it in the first place.

Pressing a PWR button requires some amount of physical effort deriving to a physical fit
The latest iPhone has one more new CAM button so what you are saying is a bit confusing

Apple wants you to keep your computer running 24/7 so there's no disruption in the data stream. Just like your smart phone or other 'always there, always listening' device(s). Surveillance is the objective. The next generation won't even have a power button. It'll have a voice command to 'go to sleep', but always remain active so that you can wake it up again. Because who wants to be bothered with having to press a power button when they can simply demand it vocally?

Think (Apple's motto, ironically).

I turn my Mac on and off 1-3x times per day. I want it locked and unable to be accessed, as well as I do video editing and find DaVinci resolve starts having issues when it's left on for too long. The button isn't a huge issue, but it will be something I deal with for the next 4 years on a daily basis. 250x per year x 4 years means that I will be pushing that button a minimum of 1000x. Yay.

Tell me you're not a Mac user without telling me you're not a Mac user.

Macs don't become "unstable" if you leave them on. There have been times where I left my previous M1 mini on for WEEKS. Guess what? It never became "unstable".

Most Mac users just sleep their computer instead of shutting it down because (thanks to Apple Silicon) they consume SO little power.
