"The generative AI model is trained on many images of the world. Because of this, it knows what object details are present in reality."

That's not at all accurate and just marketing foolishness from Topaz Lame; to mask its double-dipping strategy greed from its user base that has already paid 300 bones (a lot more for users that's been around for years due to forced paid fixes/patches [that TOPAZ LAME HAS BROKEN... clearly intentionally]) for its unstable and very finicky software mess.

1st, Alpha Starlight, not Project, is already available in both tiers, free & paid.

I had a chance to play around with this so-called Project Starlight model at a family's home - and our outcome was nothing like this marketing nonsense:

"it knows what object details are present in reality."

That's a straight-out lie. We tried low- med- & high-quality sources (you can only generate 3 renders for free) all sources; Alpha Starlight COULD NOT distinguish facial imperfections (pores, scars, wrinkles, ect.) from grain and it removed A LOT of ORIGINAL details and the results?!

Well, overwhelmingly mannequin / waxy skin textures that Alpha Starlight replaced it with WHAT IT THOUGHT is the best render.

And that's not even the worst part, though; Alpha Starlight is completely dumb by not even knowing how to remove grain, INTELLIGENTLY, or "trained"... 😏, from human teeth, sky / clouds, bright objects (walls, vases, bedsheets, ect.) so, if it attempts to remove any grain, nothing is salvaged of that clip, and Alpha Starlight will remove everything and smooth the entire video and ruin all important details, ect.

Many people are dissatisfied with Topaz, my family member is one of them. No useful / stable models for years (a couple models last year, I think, but they're all broken/unfinished in some way or another), it took me a GOOD minute, or 8, to figure that awful GUI, processing time is just ridiculous (and that's processing from Topaz cloud servers), on & on!

Whatever Topaz was a few years ago that EARNED them the recognition as a decent software company, IMO, from ground zero, that IS NOT WHO TOPAZ IS TODAY in the worst way imaginable.

Please, test it for yourselves... Topaz is a nightmare today! Seriously!

Project Starlight leverages the power of generative AI technologies to upscale low-resolution videos to higher resolutions. The AI can add details to objects that are not present in the original video from its understanding of what those objects ought to look like.
