QuoteThe automotive industry in Canada consists primarily of assembly plants of foreign automakers, most with headquarters in the United States or Japan, along with hundreds of manufacturers of automotive parts and systems, a sector represented by the APMA.

Canada is currently the thirteenth-largest auto-producing nation in the world, and seventh largest auto exporter by value, producing 1.4 million vehicles and exporting $32 billion worth of vehi
cles in 2020.

Why? Canada doesn't have any EV manufacturing companies aside from Edison, which is small-scale and only does trucking out of BC. Canada gains nothing aside from the income from the tarrifs.

Those prices were going up prior to any tariffs and were announced a few weeks ago. As far as I know, automobiles weren't included in this first round of tariffs, but may come in with the next round in a few weeks on another $125billion of US goods. Then maybe we'll see tariffs actually applied. And if I was in charge, I'd tariff Tesla out of existence in Canada.

If Musk wasn't enough reason to not buy a Tesla, his buddy Trump just gave you another good reason not to.

The Trump tariffs enacted over the weekend have affected Tesla imports, just as the company is trying to increase sales of the Model 3 and the Cybertruck in the US by various means, including free XPEL wraps.
