You and me both. It looks like you can undervolt the 5090 and bring it around 405W while maintaining 94% of the performance. I live in an area with hot summers and I have no desire to ever get a GPU that creates more heat than my 3080. If you trust the Reddit analysis (they reference Tech Yes City as the source).

Prices for custom variants of the GeForce RTX 5090 and GeForce RTX 5080 graphics cards have apparently been leaked via retailer error. The highest-priced RTX 5090 card on the list is the Asus ROG Astral OC, which is supposedly going to have a price tag of $2,799.99. Shockingly, the highest-priced RTX 5080 board is $900 more than the official Nvidia variant.
