Since spacecraft left in the dark might need more power than what can be stored in the internal batteries during exposure to sunlight, China is considering transmitting power from orbit using laser wireless transmission. Moving beyond the theoretical stage, they must develop the technologies needed and then conduct on-orbit testing.
