Quote from: Cooe on December 24, 2024, 06:17:49They only care that you have bought some kind of a device you can buy Microsoft Game Studios games on. They don't care AT ALL if it's a Windows PC (where they make even more money on those Windows licenses) or an Xbox (where they lose money or late in a Gen break even, but make it up on software sales as the console stores give MS/Sony a 30% cut on all digital sales & like ≈15% on physical game sales), or even a phone!!! All they care about is if you BUY THEIR GAMES OR SUBSCRIBE TO GAME PASS!!! Why? THAT'S HOW GAME COMPANIES ACTUALLY MAKE MONEY! 🤦😑

Honestly an XBOX represent a nearly perfect closed system for Microsoft:
- customer purchases box
- customer RENTS the software & access for the box
- Microsoft has complete control over what is running (or NOT!) on the box

As opposed to Microsoft's "Windows" platform which they employ nearly countless armies of coders trying to fill&patch the equally countless security holes. Customers are free to install any & all system breaking code they wish.

While WIN licenses are 'one & done' the support for those licenses are a never ending headache.

Microsoft (and others) drool over Adobes 'thin client' model of 'rental ware'. Had Googles 'ChromeOS' cloud based computing actually took off, we'd be looking at a vastly different computer market these days.

The only way I could truly see this as an amazing idea would be if Playstation and Xbox joined forces and created a system that allowed you to play everything. The people at xbox can focus on the creation of the games with Playstations help and have Playstation work on the hardware. Maybe make an even better vr system which allows you to experience more than just sight and sound. Kinect could scan a person into the game so you could control your character and meta quest gives good visuals, but imagine if they combined both and could put you more into a game? Then we could literally be playing as our character in the games we love and in rpg games like Skyrim or hogwarts legacy we could customize ourselves and be a dragonborne or a wizard 1st hand and literally experience the magic for ourselves, not just imagine what it would be like. Of course we definitely don't want in to be like sword art online and be stuck/die for real but getting to be fully immersed in the game would be amazing. And if they joined forces they could have the funds to make that happen and sell the consoles for cheap because who wouldn't want to subscribe to memberships that allow you to become the characters of your favorite games, to be a super saiyan, a soul reaper, a wizard, a soldier, a mortal combat character or even a superhero/villain and fly around? And when I say membership, I mean something similar to xbox's ultimate pass to where you can get access to games early or for lower price, and even buy credits for certain packages so you can customize your characters and get special items only obtainable through purchase. If they joined companies, they could bring in more money from customers paying for perks and memberships and more via online while still charging low prices for the actual consoles and if they did something like this, I doubt many people would be against the idea and would have most/all xbox/Playstation fans fighting just for the chance to get their hands on that system so they could experience something new and more exciting than they ever have or possibly ever will. Just an interesting thought I had; I definitely look forward to the day we finally see a true vr system, where we could smell, feel and taste while in a virtual world. I myself personally would love to be able to actually use magic or even fly and if a vr system allowed me to do so and actually physically, well in the virtual sense, feel like I actually was, I'd be ecstatic and wouldn't hesitate to buy if up.

It's awesome. It just won't happen because it makes zero business sense.

I don't buy this at all. Consoles can only be as cheap as they are because you're then locked into paying a subscription. If they wanted to do this, they'd have to sell the consoles for at LEAST $1000 if not much more. Only for people like me to buy it and use it exclusively as a PC and console gamers not touching it at all. Not going to happen.

I'm certainly in the minority but after the XBone debacle where first MS tried to  make their game system online only, then talked down at the serfs that complained they didn't have good internet. Even after MS finally backtracked and supposedly bowed to consumer pressure, you couldn't even play a game on XBone until you somehow got it online and registered it and downloaded an actual OS. It was just a paperweight out of the package until you updated and registered it with Microsoft. I Happened to be long term at a hotel at the time. I had internet, but MS didn't even put in internet password capability, the geniuses that they are!
I had to go out and buy a laptop so I could login on to the Internet and SHARE the connection with XBone so it could  get online because the OS was inadequate to do that on its own.
It was a total FAIL. I ended up just selling it for half price to a Coworker and swore I'd never buy another Xbox after that.
But I'm an equal opportunity offender, I have no plans to buy a ps5 either. Nintendo is just too gimmicky and underpowered for the way I like to play.
So here's hoping that PS6 will be a winner.

I don't think analysts took into consideration the amount of hate people have for nintendo right now, especially after the whole trying to copyright video game mechanics such as throwing objects to capture creatures. This will affect games like palworld, Even ark, with its cryopods. The list goes on and on.

My first game was actually metroid, the original metroid way back in the day. It was still a relevant game when I picked it up at four years old. I've always been a Nintendo fan up until now. Their attacks on the Pokémon community for fan games. Their attacks on people making their own Pokémon merchandise. Lastly, their attacks on game studios that take risks to create better versions of what Nintendo makes.

Lets be honest, Nintendo keep's their games stagnant with few alterations that took near a decade and 2 sequels for those small changes to happen. It all has just left a permanent stain for me. When it's projected that Nintendo will continue to grow, yes I suspect the switch 2 will do very well, but like Disney people are turning their backs.

Nintendo will likely never change or apologize. Should they be successful they will completely change the industry forever in the worst possible way. If they get their way, so many games will have to either pay up or be shut down/banned in Japan and potentially world wide. It's absolutely horrible.

Settle down. WTH?  Anyway, yes there has been. Multiple times.  They said they were already working on the next gen when the current systems released and Phil confirmed it again a fews months back when he did that sit down interview to talk about the future of XBox.

I'm leaning more this way these days.  I've got a Steam Deck and love it.  However, there are still a few games that aren't supported due to some anti-cheat programs that don't support Linux.

I'm still a fan of console like boxes for under the TV and would consider a Steam Machine that Valve is rumored to be looking at again or an XBox like described in this article. The XBox seems like it could be the better option if a Valve device still lacks support for all the anti cheat software.

In this scenario I'd keep the Deck for mobile gaming and use a next gen XBox as my under the TV device. Even Sony is increasingly releasing on PC so I'd still have access to many of their games without their hardware.

Indeed,I'd Love To Be Able To Play My PC Games On My XBOX Console's. I stead Of Having To Constantly Be Upgrading The PC EVERY YEAR OR TWO With Ram,Processors,Motherboard And Graphics Cards Just To Keep Up With The Newer Games.

Quote from: Cooe on December 24, 2024, 06:17:49🤦🙄... All you idiots not understanding that Microsoft has ALREADY CONFIRMED next-gen Xbox's are coming and they are already DEEP in design is absolutely embarrassing... 😑

Even if the next-gen device(s) has/have more open software, MICROSOFT IS STILL DEVELOPING/MAKING NEW XBOX HARDWARE!!!!

And for all the PC gamers in these comments saying "there's no reason for me to buy an Xbox and there hasn't been in generations", you small brains are COMPLETELY missing the point. Unless you use Linux, MICROSOFT ALREADY OWNS YOUR a**! THEY DON'T CARE IF YOU ALSO BUY AN XBOX!!! (Bc HW sales LOSE money, they don't make it!).

Exclusives sell consoles.

Look at Nintendo.  If Nintendo didn't have an amazing library of first party titles no one would own a Nintendo console.  Nintendo is always 10 years behind on technology but sells millions upon millions of units.  Simply because people want to play Mario games and Pokemon.

My switch is nothing more than a pokemon box.

Seriously grow up.
You don't have a clue what you're talking about. You're a lying dumb a**.

Your inability to comprehend is an embarrassment.

Sarah Bond & Phil Spencer have Not used the word Console in over 2yrs. The next xbox won't be a console thats what "everything is an xbox" marketing.

How much would this all in one xbox PC cost? What would be the performance specifications? Are you talking 4K 120FPS?

The only confirmation from sarah bond is the largest technological advancement in gaming. They haven't said a new console.

Phil Spencer already We won't get new customers releasing a $1000 console. Ok dumb a** what does phil mean?

The next piece of hardware will be a handheld and a very inexpensive handheld, by comparison and Phil Spencer confirmed its years away.

There hasn't been any confirmation of a new xbox console, you're a liar.

Dam are you stupid. So what if the PC has windows for Steam? You're an idiot. That doesn't have anything to do with xbox. You're such a lying bitch.

Xbox hasn't had an exclusive since the 360. Name 1 exclusive, if it's on PC also it's not an exclusive. While this is great for us pc gamers it pretty much makes it pointless to own an Xbox.

Hello Death of Xbox gaming. Without exclusives Microsoft is going to put themselves out of the gaming industry. If there's no exclusives for xbox, then there is no reason for me to play on xbox. Ill just go to Playstation.
