It would be good for the industry if these boards were more expandable. But "good enough for me" sets the limits of imagination.

I only use one GPU and have never run out of lanes. Block Blast  people don't need dual GPU features. Plus, high-end boards have enough PCIe lanes but are too expensive. The mainstream is still a reasonable choice for most people.

This is all just surface. There are not enough lanes on consumer boards. If there were more lanes/better slot layouts, you could have all these features. But when it comes to actually significant features, like running multiple GPUs for local LLMs, you are out of luck.
