I'm requesting Google to no longer recommend this unreliable "news" site. There's plenty of good journalism (at Polygon, Eurogamer, The Verge, Ars Technica, Rock Paper Shotgun, etc.) to waste time with a website that can't get basic quotations right and also fabricates false information and misinformation without regard for proper journalism.

and to clarify the Ayaneo Kun which runs on a 8840U chipset features a 54 W charger - 6 W less than the reported Switch 2. Ayaneo Kun is about twice as powerful as the Steam Deck. Furthermore, Watt draw counts for less than APU architecture. For example both the Nintendo Switch and the Steam Deck APUs do more with much less in terms of fidelity at low Watt TDPs. It allows the Steam Deck to do graphics at 5W that the 8840U cannot without pushing it to 8-10W. If the Switch 2 has a very efficient APU, 60W could be significantly outperforming current Windows handhelds.

Do I even care? I'm still playing my OG Switch; haven't, and probably will never buy a PS5. I don't care about graphics, 4K, 30FPS and whatnot. Give be creative videogames, original stories and I'll be forever happy.

This is disappointing? A quite substantial upgrade over the Switch is disappointing? Nintendo has no interest in playing the bleeding edge specs game, which was made clear as the Switch arrived as a 720p device when the other major players were focused on having 1080p as a minimum and 4K as the primary target. Yet the Switch has sold fantastically well and moved mountains of software to earn more $Billions for Nintendo. The Switch 2's main competition is the Switch and its library of exclusives. Even that is a misnomer since the Switch 2 should have access to the most or all of the Switch library at launch. And then there are likely upgrades to existing hit games. How Nintendo will handle those is a bigger question: free, paid DLC/patch upgrade, or entirely new SKU?

Only Americans cry over Switch specs 🤣 1080p 60fps is more than enough for handheld device, even 720p! This device is not made to run latest AAA unoptimized Unreal gargabe of games.

Truth be told, Valve does advertise Steam Deck as able to push up to 4k60, and Switch 2 will definitely be stronger than that.

Sorry, don't believe this Redditor on the basis that there really is no logical reason for this limitation of 4k30. Like, even a simple 2D game can't even hit 4k60? It's more believable to think if this person did see it in action, he saw a game running at 4k30, not that the system was limited to 4k30.

Seriously, every single Nintendo platform before this, both home and portable console, had a top resolution that also hit 60hz. Not every game pushed 60fps, but the hardware was capable of it. And with Switch 2, it will have the benefit of the superior DLSS upscaling for GPU-bound games to improve frame rates. You don't throw in an impressive Cortex A78C CPU into the system, allow portable mode to push 1080p60, and then go on to say docked mode sucks because 4k can only be done at 30hz.

It makes even less sense when you start to think about backwards compatibility and the possibility that Switch games could be enhanced on Switch 2 to make use of the stronger hardware to go beyond Switch's 1080p60 docked mode limitation. MK8D, on hardware that could easily run it at 4k60, can't because of this hard limitation? How about NSO with 3D-rendered games running under emulation?

1080p 60FPS on handheld and docked mode is fine by me.

I want 4K 60 FPS? I got my PS5 Pro for that.

- Stay at same or similar price point
- Have same or better run time on battery
- Have better performance than current system

IMHO: I think Nintendo will "hit it out of the park" on all three accounts!!

Being backwards compatible with the Switch1 WILL be a big plus if that is true.

IMHO: Being able to upscale at all to 4K is not really a big deal however given that a good percentage of modern TV's being sold these days are 4K (which may OR NOT be any good for 'gaming') being able to output in 4K might be considered a bonus.

My EWAG? The performance of the Switch2 will be better than the Switch1 but less than the AMD & Intel handhelds.

Excepting in runtime on battery - I'll bet the Switch2 will have %50-100 more run time.

Honestly, getting 4K at all with Nintendo is a win on my book.

4K is not mainstream tbh. High refresh rate gaming is whats currently winning.
