Why on earth isn't non-upgradable listed as a downside? I had to scroll way too far to see that for nearly $600 including tax, I get the performance of a ~$350 graphics card that I can't even upgrade to keep up with minimum requirements? No thanks. Having a few extra ports built in doesn't justify this over an upgradable egpu.

it should also be noted that the AMD graphic chip/card is BUILT IN and can't be swapped out - so this is a one-and-done solution.

QuoteBut, in contrast to other eGPU solutions, the Minisforum model can unfortunately only connect via OCuLink. This currently limits its potential uses drastically, as only few devices are fitted with such a connection.

Yep. This makes it a non-starter for me as literally none of my devices - laptops or Windows tablet - support OCuLink while all of them have TB4 (even better than USB4). Pity because at that price, I'd be seriously interested in one.

Can a compact external GPU truly deliver desktop performance? Based on an AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT, Minisforum promises that its MGA1 can do precisely this. Read our review to find out what the external graphics unit is capable of, and whether you should buy it.
