The most expensive part of an EV is the battery, thankfully Tesla has no plans on reducing the cost of this or otherwise they'd of already done it by now.
I'd say it's not totally all doom and gloom as we have the Chinese working on this. But thankfully due to massive tarrifs set by western nations we're not going to get Chinese EVs anytime soon either, which are far cheaper.
So basically EV is dead for the 90% majority in the English speaking world.
Literally the only people being interested in this news is shareholders. Is this place becoming a news outlet for them now?
Tesla has plenty of interest decreasing the cost of batteries. Most of the decrease in cost of batteries in EVs in the 2010-2020 has been due to Tesla. Battery prices have dropped almost 9x during the period. Just most of the cost savings has went into more range, and the Model 3 costs 3x less than what the Roadster cost
Incremental improvements happen over time. The Chinese have focused mostly on LFP, which had poor energy density but low cost to produce. In 2020s+, LFPs energy density while not reaching the others has become "good enough" which has allowed the chinese to offer lower prices.
Factories from all brands (including Tesla) have planning/starting local production of LFP batteries.
